15/30 - Overall Design:
Ugh-ly, in my opinion. The graphic is awful, and in one of my browsers, the background color for your tables shows up light blue, because you have the "background color:" tag, but no color listed. Just delete the tag, and everything will be hunky dory.
15/20 - Functional:
Your image seems to take top priority in this layout, and I can understand why. The idea of the design is a clever one. However, your entry is difficult to read because of the tiny inline scroll, and your links are all squished into a tiny box.
3/10 - Aesthetic:
Like I said, I appreciate the idea behind this design. You have a newspaper as your background image, and a headline that reflects your diary. However, the image itself is choppy, making it look like a poor quality digitally edited image -- probably what it is. I'm not sure what the strange angled picture under the headline is supposed to be about, and it's almost too choppy to tell, anyway. Your actual entry and navigation are placed almost as an afterthought to the right of the image of two men. The background color for your entry is far too dark, and looks out of place on a newspaper page. I don't know what your intention was with that, but I'm sure you could explain it to me -- I'm just not seeing it.
20/20 - Navigation:
All of your links work, from what I can see. You have a lot of general links that lead to pages of links. It's a bit much in my opinion, but I understand that diaries can get that way. The links that show up in your entry space are dark and difficult to read.
10/10 - Originality:
Very, very original. If you're attached to this layout, I suggest redoing the background image entirely, and repositioning your entry and navigation. Maybe even consider a repeating background image that's consistent with a newspaper, in addition to a header image with your headline and navigation (just a thought).
10/10 - Browser Compatible:
Very, except for that weirdness with the blue background color showing up in explorer sometimes.
